Durango (with a population of over half a million) is the capital of the state of Durango and is problably best known for it’s colonial and Mexican Baroque architecture. If you’re not interested in visiting the city’s reportedly excellent museums, a day is probably sufficient for wandering around and taking in the sights

Due to it’s downtown location I was able to visit the short and sweet Francisco Villa Museum of History. I quite enjoyed the murals, exhibits and 20 peso entrance fee
