”Don’t go to Guatemala City, it’s dangerous.” If you travel enough in Guatemala (the country) you’ll hear this. For better or for worst at this point the word danger kind of goes in one ear and out the other for me. This is the result of 4 1/2 months of cycling through Mexico without even a sniff of danger despite people warning me of almost certain death.

”It’s just a big city”. I understand that a lot of people travel to get away from the hustle & bustle of it all. For me large masses of humanity draw me in. How could visiting Guatemala’s most populous and most economically important city not be interesting? I’m going
