After having experienced 2 of El Salvador’s 3 big cities, it was time to head towards San Miguel. The beast in the east

Eastern El Salvador was hardest hit by the civil war that saw guerrilla groups fighting the government (or vice versa). That being said, the non drug related violence has calmed down quiet a bit since then. Enough for me to go explore the city!

San Miguel plays an important role in El Salvador’s economy. It has been an important center of the agriculture, textile and chemical industries. Additionally since the early 2000s it has significantly developed in the service, commerce and health care industries.

Since I wasn’t privy to any real danger in San Miguel I was looking for some adrenaline spiking activity. Skin eating fish!
