I arrived in the city/town of Puerto Montt via Bus. And I was glad I did since the scenery wasn’t amazing. It was 8pm, and dragging my disassembled touring bicycle and panniers, I fought off stray dogs to eventually find a reasonably priced place to sleep. In the morning, the owners of the home I stayed in treated me to a delicious Chilean Breakfast  (lots of bread with butter and jam). I then assembled my bicycle and felt ready to begin a segment that I had been dreaming of for a while now. The legendary Carretera Austral

 

 

 

Throughout my cycle romp of Chilean Patagonia there were plenty of hiking opportunities. Ultimately the reason I chose this hike was because I felt like it at the time and because it promised waterfalls. Which is always a good reward for using your feet to go up and down
